Ape Entertainment celebrates Super Hero Day at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History
On Saturday, June 16, 2012, the museum’s annual event invites children under 12 to dress up as super heroes and participate in several festivities. With an Ape Entertainment office in Funky Town we’re sure to be there.
At noon, Ape COO Brent Erwin will be signing free copies of our newest comic book Hero Within, which he created (while supplies last). In addition to obtaining issue #1 before it’s out in stores, these comics feature a variant cover just for Super Saturday. Shown right, this cover features three of the series’ heroes in front of the actual museum. Not only are you getting a cool comic, you’re also getting a collector’s item that could be another piece of a collection or the start.
The fun doesn’t stop there. Our very own comic editor and comic book historian, Weldon Adams, will be presenting The History of Comics, which is a must-see.
“The history of comics is very interesting and goes beyond the biff, bam, and pow,” Weldon said. “Comics are a very American institution in the way that they grow up and shape our culture.”
This is the second year Weldon is giving the lecture and he’s made it even better. Rather than take you through the years like a class lecture, he plans to discuss how comic books reflect and impact pop culture.
Did you know during World War II spurred the creation and popularity of patriotic heroes? Weldon will touch on this trend and more in his lecture.
